Getting here from Port Credit, with or without a car
Port Credit sits at the mouth of the Credit River on Lake Ontario, and our office is west of it, in Clarkson. There is no second location in the village, so it helps to know your options before you set off.
- By GO train: Port Credit GO station, just north of Lakeshore Road and Hurontario Street, is on the Lakeshore West line. Clarkson GO is the very next stop heading west, and our office is a few minutes from Clarkson GO station.
- By MiWay bus: Route 23 Lakeshore runs along Lakeshore Road from Port Credit to Clarkson GO every day of the week. Route 14 Lorne Park runs between Port Credit GO and Clarkson GO on weekdays outside rush hours.
- By car: follow Lakeshore Road west out of the village toward Clarkson. Parking is close to the entrance.
A ramp runs up to our entrance from the parking area at the side of the building. The door is not automatic, so if you would like someone to meet you and hold it open, call ahead and we will arrange it.
Call first: a knocked-out tooth
Of all dental emergencies, a knocked-out adult tooth is the one where minutes count. A knocked-out permanent tooth is most likely to be saved when it is re-seated quickly, ideally within the hour — so phone us before you leave, not when you arrive.
- Hold the tooth by the crown — the white part you chew with — and never by the root.
- If it is dirty, rinse it for a few seconds with milk or clean water. Do not scrub it or wrap it in tissue.
- Try to slot it back into the socket and bite softly on a clean cloth. If that is not possible, carry it in a small container of milk, or tucked inside the cheek if that is safe.
- Call (905) 855-2622 as you set off so we are ready for you.
Other problems worth a same-morning call: a broken tooth with a sharp or bleeding edge, swelling in the gum or face, or a toothache that throbs and is not settling with over-the-counter pain relief.
If it happens at night or on a weekend
Outside office hours our phone line is answered by an automated assistant. It takes a message so the office can call you back, but it is not a person and cannot give dental or medical advice.
Some symptoms cannot wait for a callback. Facial swelling spreading toward the eye or neck, fever with mouth pain, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a serious facial injury should be treated as a medical emergency: call 9-1-1. Trillium Health Partners' Mississauga Hospital, at 100 Queensway West, has an emergency department open 24 hours a day. Once you have been seen, let us know so we can plan your dental follow-up.
At the clinic
Dr. Ravi sees you himself, from the first look through any follow-up. He keeps urgent extractions, root canal treatment and crowns in-house, and many crowns can be designed and fitted in one visit with same-day CEREC crowns. Before any treatment starts, he explains what he has found, walks you through your options and gives you a clear estimate.
We directly bill most dental insurance plans and accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). You do not need to be an existing patient to be seen for an emergency.
Everyday care for Port Credit families is covered on our Port Credit dentist page. For first-aid steps for other kinds of dental emergency, see our main emergency dental care page.
